2025 BCGL Banter: Week 11 Recap

Filed on November 28, 2025 (Very late)

TOP OF THE WORLD — The once proud Poppers franchise turned back the clock for a week and did their best Van Halen impersonation. Poppers GM Kent Pope was hopping, skipping and jumping into the Tuesday morning media session while belting out “I know that you believe in me…that’s all I ever need, uh-huh…No, no, nothing’s gonna stop me…Nothing will be scaring me, oh no” as he was standing on top of the world at the end of Week 11. The Poppers were the only team to post 200+ points which gave them the top score along with knocking off the #1 team in the league! Kent may grow out a mullet and dust off the old electric guitar to celebrate. At least for one week this season, he earned it.

Here’s more of what happened in Week 11…

Poppers 204.45, greatest show on digital turf 144.70
The Poppers packed a punch to post their first two-game winning streak of the season. QB Jacoby Brissett (43 pts) continued to cook for the Poppers as they put the pedal to the metal and cruised to an easy victory over greatest show on digital turf. Even the Cleveland team defense (26 pts) contributed to a worthy cause. The Poppers remain in the bottom half of the league, but they were the belle of the ball on this night. Caleb’s greatest show (9-2) stumbled for just the second time but he continues his hold on the #1 spot in the league.

Pongo Pack 181.80, Paul & Glover Phenomenal Team 173.95
If there are two things that the Pongo Pack possess, they are a full beard and a long memory. Week 11 was a chance for Pongo Pack to avenge their Week 2 loss to Paul & Glover and even up the Paul vs Paul season score. QB Josh Allen (75 pts) put the rest of Pongo Pack on his shoulders and willed the team to victory. Paul & Glover did not go quietly as QB Dak Prescott (51 pts) and WR George Pickens (33 pts) put on a show of their own. Unfortunately, only one Paul could be the better Paul this week.

Grady’s Grunts 181.40, Braden’s Bandits 149.00
Nothing cures a three-game losing streak quicker than a match-up against Braden’s Bandits. Braden is like the Good Samaritan who saw a struggling team on the side of road, took care of him and paid for his full recovery. In BCGL terms, that Good Samaritan work comes in the form of gifting his opponent an easy victory for the week. Yes, the Grunts benefited from the fact that Braden’s Bandits had two starters that scored 0 pts. But don’t we all? Braden’s Bandits have become the top gift on everyone’s list this holiday season.

Uncle Rico 175.50, The Mean Machine 150.70
Uncle Rico should change his name to DJ Khaled because all he’s done is win to the tune of a four-game winning streak since Week 8 of the season. It feels like all we’ve heard from Uncle Rico’s camp for the past several weeks is “Another one” as he counts up his victories in the win column. Uncle Rico’s recipe included a heavy dose of QB Jordan Love (31 pts) mixed in with some Texans — QB David Mills (25 pts) and WR Nico Collins (28 pts). That combination may seem odd but no one can argue with the results. Delicious!

Da Bears 173.45, Underdogs 151.25
Da Bears roster continues to be a team short on style but full of substance. The team has posted a 5-1 record in their last six games including last week’s win over the Underdogs. RB Christian McCaffrey (47 pts) stood out this week while the rest of the team put in average efforts. Tallying 173 points was nothing stellar but it was enough to finish ahead of the Underdogs who have stumbled through a three-game losing streak — their longest dip of the season. Are Da Bears rounding into postseason form? Only time will tell.

Wall Street Journals 159.95, Losing INC 137.15
Much like Uncle Rico, the Wall Street Journals have rejuvenated their fanbase with a four-game winning streak topped off with a win over Losing INC. Neither team’s performance in this contest was much to write home about. RB TeVeyon Henderson (44 pts) and TE Trey McBride (31 pts) showed up for Wall Street Journals while TE George Kittle (32 pts) and K Wil Lutz (29 pts) contributed for Losing INC. Both teams will try to build a little momentum down the stretch — but will it be for 2025 or 2026?
