2025 BCGL Banter: Week 13 Recap

Filed on December 7, 2025

RADIATOR SPRINGS — There’s still time for the story to develop but the race for the 2025 BCGL Piston Cup has two strong contenders leading the pack. Caleb and his greatest show on digital turf (10-3) roster have done their best Lightning McQueen imitation as they KA-CHOWed their way to the #1 spot in the league. Not far behind, Da Bears (9-4) have embraced both age and experience as the clever Hudson Hornet by moving into the #2 spot. Each team has won in different ways, yet both have secured a postseason spot with one week left in the regular season. Will any challengers emerge from the rest of the field of minivans? It’s still anyone’s race to win with several laps to go!

Here’s more of what happened in Week 13…

Uncle Rico 231.30, greatest show on digital turf 156.45
Uncle Rico must have eaten their Wheaties because this team has become a buzzsaw! Proud owners of a six-game win streak, Uncle Rico topped the charts in Week 13 with their nasally sound and pop hit “Oops!..I Did It Again” — posting the top score of the week and handing greatest show their third loss of the season. QB Jordan Love (52 pts) and WR Rashee Rice (27 pts) provided backing vocals for this performance and did not disappoint. Caleb took the loss but it did little to loosen his grip on the top spot in the league.

Wall Street Journals 217.65, Poppers 210.15
Poppers pushed this contest to the brink, but Wall Street Journals escaped with the victory in what amounted to a heavyweight contest between two prize fighters. QB Daniel Jones (30 pts), TE Brock Bowers (30 pts) and the Seattle defense (49 pts) landed just enough uppercuts to tilt the final score in this bout. Poppers got great performances from QB Jacoby Brissett (34 pts), WR AJ Brown (43 pts) and RB Kimani Vidal (29 pts) but fell just 7.5 points short of victory. Vidal and Brissett? Props to the Poppers player evaluation department.

Grady’s Grunts 185.05, Underdogs 171.90
The 2025 season has been a strange pattern of three for Grady’s Grunts. Weeks 2-4 (three losses), Weeks 5-7 (three wins), Weeks 8-10 (three losses) and Weeks 11-13 (three wins) confirm that if the season was a piano then Grady’s Grunts are the perfect metronome. Underdogs will think about what might have been last week if WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (0 pts) had done anything but disappear. QB Patrick Mahomes’ result (56 pts) was also wasted for the Underdogs as Grady’s Grunts moved into the #3 spot and pushed them down to #4.

Da Bears 180.85, Pongo Pack 154.45
Da Bears started the season 2-3 before an 86-year-old Mike Ditka visited their clubhouse for a pep talk. The transcript of what he said has been lost but the results speak for themselves — Da Bears have compiled a 7-1 record in the past eight weeks. Pongo Pack is headed in the opposite direction after going 1-3 in their past four contests. There was nothing spectacular about the scoring for this game, but the result lived up to all of the Las Vegas odds — Da Bears win, Pongo Pack loses. That’s always a safe bet.

Paul & Glover Phenomenal Team 159.60, Braden’s Bandits 91.95
Braden’s Bandits have become so senile that their character was written out of the script for the Golden Girls television show. You don’t remember a fifth member of the Golden Girls cast? That’s exactly our point. It’s a shame because Braden had quite the athletic prowess in his youth. Father Time is truly undefeated. It’s also sad that Paul & Glover have taken a tumble this season. In the past eight weeks, Paul & Glover have gone 3-5. Their only wins? Two against Braden’s Bandits and one against Losing INC. It may be time to rebuild.

The Mean Machine 157.30, Losing INC 117.65
Losing INC has written off this season for a variety of reasons — and still scored 25 more points this week than Braden’s Bandits. Meanwhile, Mean Machine has struggled to find last season’s championship magic as 2025 continues to march forward. Yes, Mean Machine won this week, but the victory only gives them a 3-3 record in the last six contests. There are worse things than a .500 winning percentage in fantasy football, but we know Mean Machine won’t be satisfied with this regression to the mean after last year.
