2025 BCGL Banter: Week 2 Recap

Filed on September 16, 2025

A LITTLE ROWBOAT, CHINA - Last week, our league had the strangest dream — that scoring less than 200 points was more than enough to secure a fantasy win. That old verse didn’t play as well in Week 2 as several teams revved their fantasy engines on the way to higher scores across (most of) the board. Underdogs, CMC hate club, Mean Machine and Losing INC proved they may not be one hit wonders this year. “Ain’t nothin’ gonna break their stride” and “nobody gonna slow them down” for a second week — as they all sit on top of the standings at 2-0.

Here’s more of what happened in Week 2…

Paul & Glover Phenomenal Team 256.35, Pongo Pack 195.10
In a rare phenomenon known as the “Paul Off”, we witnessed parallel Paul(s) pulling no punches with one another. The reality is that Paul E got the best quarterback output this day on the back of Jared Goff (67 pts) and a rejuvenated Detroit Lions offense. Goff’s score proved prophetic as Paul & Glover won by the largest margin of victory for the week. Pongo Pack may be coached by a teacher, but they will need to stay late for tutoring after their grade on this week’s assignment.

Underdogs 234.30, Da Bears 222.05
There’s only one way to explain this fast start by the Underdogs in 2025. Steroids. The results of random drug testing may still be in question, but no one can argue the results in the standings after two weeks. Underdogs are the only team to break 200 points every week and they fought off a strong showing by Da Bears. Amon-Ra St Brown’s 51-point outburst tipped the final scales away from Da Bears. Dennis won in spite of his kicker and defense!

CMC hate club 223.20, Poppers 202.50
CMC hate club has put the 2024 season into a distant rearview mirror at this point. The team moved away from Christian McCaffrey and embraced a much wider pool of talent on their way to the third best score of the week. Poppers fired a few big shots to break 200 points but saw their efforts go in vain for another week. It seems unfair that Brandon Aubrey only gets 10 points per 64-yard field goal but all is fair in love and the BCGL!

The Mean Machine 211.20, Uncle Rico 206.15
The Year of the Bo (Nix) got back on track as Mean Machine rode a pretty even performance across their starting roster this week. The margin of victory was extremely thin as Uncle Rico put plenty of money where his mouth normally is in this match-up. There’s no shame in posting 200+ points and losing to a strong team. There’s plenty of shame in being a Miami Dolphins fan these days but we digress. Mean Machine is on a roll since last year — someone needs to break their streak!

Braden’s Bandits 176.10, Grady’s Grunts 149.15
Watching Braden’s Bandits beat Grady’s Grunts was like watching coach-pitch baseball. We all know they may grow into something impressive but last week it was just cute and adorable to watch them run around and try to score a few points. There was more alliteration in their team names than points on the scoreboard, but a win is a win. Week 2 was nothing to write home about — which is okay since Braden and Jeff still live at home and play video games in the basement.

Losing INC 164.65, Wall Street Journals 151.95
Don’t be fooled by Losing INC’s team name or their place in line for this recap. They probably had more money in the bank than fantasy points this week, but Losing INC sits in 4th place overall at 2-0. That place in the standings is night and day from a year ago and we don’t hear any complaints from Collin. Some wins aren’t pretty but they all count the same. Wall Street Journals got 52 points from Lamar Jackson and not much else.
