2025 BCGL Banter: Week 4 Recap

Filed on September 30, 2025

SUPER DOPE HOMEBOY, OAKTOWN - There’s little more to say about the lone 4-0 team in the league other than “U Can’t Touch This”. The franchise formerly known as the CMC hate club was so inspired by their team performance to date that they changed their name to “greatest show on digital turf”. Not one to be bothered by capitalization or their weekly opponent, Caleb’s team set a new standard for the season with 295 points — enough to impress Kurt Warner and even make Dick Vermeil shed a few tears. It seems like every one of Caleb’s opponents sings a similar refrain: “Please Hammer, don’t hurt ‘em!”

Here’s more of what happened in Week 4…

greatest show on digital turf 295.25, Grady’s Grunts 181.70
Grady’s team might have better luck if he can talk the commissioner into changing the BCGL to a PPG format — Points Per Grunt. As it stands, the Grunts are on a three-week slide since their opening week victory. 181 points is respectable but was no match for the juggernaut that has become the greatest show on digital turf. What more can we say about Caleb? He’s the gold standard by which the rest of the league is measured right now. And he’s dancing all over the league in his gold hammer pants!

Underdogs 259.70, The Mean Machine 203.25
The Underdogs got back to their winning ways by posting a 200+ score for the third time in four weeks. It wasn’t all kickers and defense either, as QB Patrick Mahomes (54 pts), WR Amon-Ra St Brown (34 pts) and WR Romeo Doubs (41 pts) played some of their best ball so far. Mean Machine may have expected to bounce back from last week’s loss but find themselves in their first two-game losing streak in ages. It may sting in the short-term but Mean Machine can always take solace by looking at their reflection in last year’s championship ring.

Paul & Glover Phenomenal Team 240.65, Poppers 161.40
Caleb might be the talk of the town, but Paul & Glover have quietly recorded a three-week winning streak after an opening day loss and moved up to the #3 team in the league. QB Dak Prescott (56 pts), RB Ashton Jeanty (50 pts) and WR George Pickens (41 pts) were all phenomenal this week. Meanwhile, the Poppers got above-average QB play from Baker Mayfield (33 pts) and Brock Purdy (32 pts) but not enough from the rest of the roster. When asked how they might find the elusive mistress of victory, the Poppers sing a common refrain: “Have you seen her?”

Da Bears 224.85, Uncle Rico 169.20
Several orderlies at the BCGL Assisted Living residence said Uncle Rico participates in group games, eats every meal and seems in good spirits. Yet, as Da Bears built a large lead that he would not surpass, Uncle Rico stared at the TV and kept muttering “DeAngelo Williams will bring me back, DeAngelo Williams will bring me back”. The story didn’t change on Tuesday morning as orderlies explained to Uncle Rico that the games were done. He kept staring at the TV — convinced that DeAngelo Williams would bring him back. DeAngelo Williams last played in the NFL in 2016. So sad.

Pongo Pack 207.35, Wall Street Journals 181.75
Pongo Pack usually keeps his emotions in check but after this week’s victory — coupled with his Week 1 victory over Braden’s Bandits — Paul was heard yelling “ACU is better! Harding sucks!” That feels a bit harsh, but it illustrates just how heated the competition can become in this league of personalities. Pongo Pack once again leaned heavily on QB Josh Allen (42 pts) and QB Kyler Murray (30 pts) to lead the charge. Like most newspapers, Wall Street Journals have had some trouble transitioning into the digital age. The injury to QB Lamar Jackson could be a larger blow to this team’s hopes if Jackson is out for any length of time.

Braden’s Bandits 182.75, Losing INC 87.55
Braden’s Bandits deserves credit for a lunch pail victory over a Losing INC side that suffered an unfortunate string of calamities this week. How often do 8 of 11 starters post single digit scores in a BCGL fantasy week? Sarcasm is often merited but no one deserves to be piled on for that amount of bad luck. This week’s result leaves both Braden and Collin sitting at 2-2 in the standings. All is not won, but all is not yet lost either. It could be worse. Just ask Uncle Rico…
