2025 BCGL Banter: Week 6 Recap
Filed on October 19, 2025 (late edition)
ON A HILL FAR AWAY - Complete transcripts of many historical revivals have been lost to time. Yet, there is a well-known story about the great revival of 1872 that took place on Castle Hill. Sin, redemption and a focus on scripture were top of mind. This revival also sparked furious debate on one topic between the throngs of learned men — “That the Josh Allen giveth and the Josh Allen taketh away”. History has labelled any participant at this revival as a “Castle-man” for the hours they spent in Josh Allen consternation on that hill. That debate raged on this week in the BCGL as Josh Allen taketh away what might have been a victory for the Pongo Pack. In a strange connection to the past, Pongo Pack is owned and managed by Paul Castleman. Spooky stuff!
Here’s more of what happened in Week 6…
Grady’s Grunts 234.30, Underdogs 190.05
Don’t look now but Grady’s Grunts mustered their first two-game winning streak of the season! Posting the week’s top score was icing on the cake. Quarterback play led the way as QB Jalen Hurts (33 pts) and Jayden Daniels (41 pts) found a bit of their old form from 2024. The Underdogs were no slouch in scoring 190 points on the back of QB Patrick Mahomes (56 pts) and QB Trevor Lawrence (33 pts). Both teams’ kickers and defense were up to the task so you might say the Grunts beat the Underdogs at their own game.
Paul & Glover Phenomenal Team 220.10, Braden’s Bandits 179.75
Paul & Glover righted their ship last week with a win over Braden’s Bandits after running into the Uncle Rico buzzsaw in Week 5. Paul & Glover have also been pumping out the points with 240.65 (Week 4), 231.70 (Week 5) and 220.10 (Week 6). This team is in a groove right now and we hope the bye weeks don’t disrupt their mojo in this marathon of a season. The Bandits continue their up and down campaign with the loss but sit in 6th place. There’s still time to go on a run to the postseason as this team is not managed by Jerry Jones.
greatest show on digital turf 192.60, Uncle Rico 149.10
What more can we say about the greatest show on digital turf? They are the only undefeated team (6-0) and they also have the highest point total in the league (1333.40 pts). We can’t argue with greatness and Caleb’s team has been great. Uncle Rico may release a pop music album soon since he already released his one-hit wonder single when he posted 267.95 points last week for his only victory. Week 6 was back to the Uncle Rico we know this year — 149.10 points and a bag of chips.
Da Bears 190.30, Pongo Pack 187.25
Yahoo tagged this match-up as the Game of the Week and neither team disappointed. The first of two contests decided by less than 5 pts was won by Da Bears after withstanding a furious rally by Pongo Pack during the MNF games. Paul was famously quoted in the papers telling the Da Bears “OH you’re gonna lose…” only to see QB Josh Allen taketh away from the win column with a sub-par performance. Paul’s MNF post-game summary to reporters was both eloquent and truthful in just two words — “Well crap”.
Wall Street Journals 183.35, Poppers 180.65
The Journals have established a steady pattern to the season. Two consecutive losses followed by a win. That pattern was consistent in Week 6 as the Journals nipped the Poppers by 2.75 points — the closest match-up of the week. QB Daniel Jones (40 pts) and RB Rico Dowdle (42 pts) did just a little more for the Journals than QB Baker Mayfield (34 pts) and RB Cam Skattebo (43 pts) could do for the Poppers. In a game of inches, every point mattered this week. This outcome did little to inch the Poppers or Journals very high in the standings.
Losing INC 142.80, Mean Machine 133.30
Hard times had fallen on Losing INC as they entered Week 6 on a three-game losing streak. Collin’s coaching adjustments are starting to bear fruit as he’s increased his point total from 87.55 pts (Week 4) to 125.25 pts (Week 5) to 142.80 pts (Week 6) and a narrow victory over Mean Machine. Sadly, the 2024 champion Mean Machine have become a shell of their former self as their losing streak reaches four weeks. This game saw Losing INC (8th) overtake Mean Machine (9th) in the standings. This game didn’t see many points scored.
