2025 BCGL Banter: Week 7 Recap

Filed on October 25, 2025

WALLS OF JERICHO - We all know how silly the Israelites likely felt for six days as they marched around the Walls of Jericho. The city citizens must have watched the strategy unfold and laughed heartily as nothing special happened. Until that 7th day! Jeff, Kent and Dennis often recount these events of Jericho since they lived on the same street during those ancient times. Like the Israelites, Da Bears continued their march this season for six weeks to the sound of naysayers and catcallers. Until the 7th week! And what a grand seventh week it was — as Da Bears dropped a point total so large it would have crushed the walls of any opponent unlucky enough to be in its path.

Here’s more of what happened in Week 7…

Da Bears 329.65, Paul & Glover Phenomenal Team 137.55
Paul & Glover thought it strange to hear the howl of air raid sirens on Sunday afternoon but they followed their evacuation plan and hunkered down in their homemade bomb shelter. Little did the league know that an explosion was imminent as the Da Bears roster produced more power than a nuclear blast in dropping 329 pts for the week. The radiation will linger for years to come. Fortunately, no children were injured. Both teams remain in the upper echelon of the league — Da Bears #3 and Paul & Glover #4 — as expected.

The Mean Machine 263.95, Wall Street Journals 179.60
The great lion Mufasa must have reminded Mean Machine to “remember who you are” in the night. Mean Machine fully absorbed the message as the 2024 BCGL Champions found their footing and posted their best score of the season against the Wall Street Journals. Led by QB Bo Nix (62 pts), QB Joe Flacco (52 pts) and RB Jahmyr Gibbs (49 pts), Mean Machine ended their four-game losing streak in celebratory fashion. The Journals hope that QB Lamar Jackson returns soon to inspire the rest of their roster.

Grady’s Grunts 218.30, Pongo Pack 122.55
Don’t look now but Grady’s Grunts has found some magic and reversed a 1-4 start to their season by reeling off three victories in a row. The Grunts posted a healthy 218.30 points which nearly doubled the total of their Pongo Pack opponent. Both teams ended the week with records of 4-3 as the league continues to sort itself out at the half-way mark. When told of his loss this week, the Pongo Pack owner kept yelling, “That’s not fair! I won the trophy in 2023!” and stomped off with a Capri Sun in hand.

Poppers 216.90, Uncle Rico 165.20
In a poignant moment, the Poppers were powered to victory this week by a Cleveland Browns defense (42 pts) that has long been the love of their life. Helped by the duo of WR Ja’Marr Chase (42 pts) and a rare WR A.J. Brown (36 pts) sighting, the Poppers pounced on their feeble Uncle Rico prey. The Poppers (2-5) moved to #10 in the league while Uncle Rico (1-6) remains #12. Uncle Rico has been at this address so long they updated the US Post Office to get all their mail forwarded to that location.

greatest show on digital turf 200.60, Losing INC 182.85
It wasn’t quite A Band of Brothers on the undercard this week, but the family contest of Caleb vs Collin finished with respectable outputs from both teams. Losing INC isn’t interested in moral victories but the team continues to improve from posting 87 points four weeks ago to 182 points this week. greatest show on digital turf (7-0) continues to ignore capitalization but they haven’t ignored the win column as they remain the only perfect team this year. QB Matthew Stafford (59 pts) leads the MVP race for the greatest show!

Underdogs 190.20, Braden’s Bandits 95.70
In another week that required 200 pts from most teams to win, Underdogs fell short of that total but beat a downtrodden Bandits team in convincing fashion. QB Patrick Mahomes (47 pts) and WR Keenan Allen (32 pts) continue to benefit from the great clubhouse atmosphere for the Underdogs. Branden’s Bandits were at the mercy of QB Tua Tagovailoa who tallied a shocking -0.40 pts in what might be a first for the season. Similarly, QB Caleb Williams (6 pts) failed to show up as they were busy watching Da Bears on TV.
