2025 BCGL Banter: Week 9 Recap
Filed on November 9, 2025
UNITED PARCEL SERVICE - UPS ran a popular marketing campaign from 2002-2010 that asked “What can Brown do for you?” If we ask the same question of the 2025 BCGL league, the answer is “Not Much.” The regular season is two thirds complete and the Brown Division has one team with a winning record — Caleb’s juggernaut #1 greatest show on digital turf (8-1). The rest of that division has struggled just to tread water. Meanwhile, the Orange Division features a three-way tie between Da Bears (6-3), Underdogs (6-3) and Pongo Pack (6-3). Five weeks remain in the BCGL regular season and only four teams seem positioned for a deep run in the playoffs.
Here’s more of what happened in Week 9…
Wall Street Journals 295.30, Grady’s Grunts 200.60
The rumored death of print publications may have been premature given a resurgence by the Wall Street Journals over the last two weeks. First, the Journals knocked off the undefeated greatest show on digital turf in Week 7. Wall Street made more headlines this week with a top score of 295 pts — both their season high and more than enough to take the wind out of the sails of Grady’s Grunts. QB Lamar Jackson (51 pts) and TE Brock Bowers (55 pts) paced the Journals as they sent the Grunts to a second straight defeat.
Braden’s Bandits 225.45, The Mean Machine 185.45
Braden’s Bandits came into the week on a three-game losing streak but a change in offensive philosophy — scoring more points than your opponent — paid immediate dividends. Braden may regret signing QB Tua Tagovailoa (11 pts) to a contract, but he’s elated that WR Drake London (50 pts) and QB Caleb Williams (63 pts) are part of his 2025 roster. Mean Machine received strong play from QB Joe Flacco (64 pts) but saw their two-week winning streak end with lackluster contributions from other starters.
greatest show on digital turf 224.15, Paul & Glover Phenomenal Team 223.40
Like the earlier UPS question, many have asked what Jerry Jones got for paying QB Dak Prescott $60 million a year. The answer has been the same as the Brown Division — “Not much.” However, Caleb is singing Dak Prescott’s praises this week as a late game interception allowed the greatest show on digital turf to pull victory from the jaws of defeat and send Paul & Glover to their third straight loss. NFL football games are often decided by inches. This week’s game was decided by an interception.
Pongo Pack 209.05, Poppers 175.40
Pongo Pack has the smallest point differential of all four BCGL teams with a winning record — Da Bears (+301 pts), Underdogs (+280 pts), greatest show on digital turf (+217 pts), Pongo Pack (+40 pts) — but they sit as the #4 team in the league at 6-3. A large part of that differential comes from their 34-point win over the Poppers last week. QB Josh Allen (45 pts) and QB Sam Darnold (54 pts) continue to shine bright for Pongo Pack while Poppers live and die by QB Mac Jones (30 pts) and QB Jacoby Brissett (43 pts). Yuck!
Da Bears 189.40, Losing INC 125.45
Da Bears started the season 0-2 but turned things around by going 6-1 in the last seven weeks. Da Bears have relied on depth across the roster along with the growth of QB Drake Maye (30 pts) in his second full season. RB Christian McCaffery (42 pts) continues to exercise the demons from his 2024 campaign as Da Bears are hitting their stride at the right time. Losing INC has seen glimmers of hope from QB Justin Herbert (46 pts) but has too much inconsistency across the rest of their locker room this year.
Uncle Rico 182.00, Underdogs 164.75
A two-week win streak for Uncle Rico? Now we’ve seen everything! Uncle Rico didn’t have a single player break 26 points, but they proved Aristotle right when he said the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Or maybe Uncle Rico just proved that the sum of their points was more than the Underdogs. The tears shed by Underdogs management at the post-game press conference were not tears of sadness or football. No, Dennis was crying tears of joy after celebrating a World Series championship by his beloved LA Dodgers!
